Saint Malo Castle
The Château de Saint-Malo (Château de la Duchesse Anne) is the historic castle at the northeast corner of the walled city of Saint-Malo in Brittany, France. Built from the early 15th century and added to through the late 15th century, its keep and corner towers form a compact fortified complex now used for municipal purposes and museum display.

A compact granite fortress of continuous curtain walls punctuated by several large cylindrical corner towers and a prominent horseshoe-shaped central keep with a steep, orange-tiled roof; the stone is weathered grey granite. The ramparts include a broad paved chemin de ronde with low parapet walls; towers have narrow slit openings and conical or steep tiled roofs. A flag flies from the highest tower and trees rise outside the outer walls of the walled city.

The Château de Saint-Malo, also known as the Château de la Duchesse Anne, stands at the northeast corner of the walled city of Saint-Malo. Built from the early 15th century, it was commissioned by John V, Duke of Brittany, for the purpose of subjugating his own people.
In 1475 Francis II, Duke of Brittany, commissioned a large tower at the southwest corner of the site, known as "La Générale". The keep and corner towers form a compact fortified complex, designated a monument historique in 1886; the town council acquired the whole complex in 1921, putting the former barracks to use for public administration, and the castle now serves municipal purposes and museum display.
