Palace of Venaria
The Palace of Venaria (Reggia di Venaria Reale) is a large Baroque former royal residence and garden complex just north of Turin, built for the House of Savoy from the late 17th century and expanded in the 18th century. It comprises an extended corps de logis with matching wings and pavilions, formal French-style gardens, a grand gallery and a dedicated chapel, later used for military purposes and restored in the 20th–21st centuries.

The shape it held in its prime.
A long Baroque palace composed of an extended central block flanked by long wings and pavilions, with alternating red-brick and pale stone/stucco façades. The first-floor loggia and a series of grand arched entrances punctuate the front; three main storeys rise under low hipped red-tile roofs and occasional attic belvederes. A broad paved forecourt with a circular fountain and jets sits before the façade, and formal axial gardens extend behind the palace across the flat Piedmont plain.
