The shape it held in its prime.
Rectangular curtain wall of roughly coursed grey local stone encloses a courtyard, with a tall rectangular five-storey tower house (keep) at the west corner and a projecting round Glassin Tower at the south‑east corner. The masonry shows small square and slit windows and gunholes in the Glassin Tower; the curtain wall is low to medium height with traces of demolished ranges along two sides. The island sits in the loch amid trees and lawn; at its prime the tower had intact timber floors and a roof.
