Butrón
Butrón Castle is a neo-Gothic castle in Gatika, Biscay, whose present appearance dates from a near-complete 19th-century rebuilding begun in 1878. The reconstruction gave the site a fairy-tale, Bavarian-inspired silhouette; the building has been renovated in modern times and the grounds are a public park though visitor access to the interior has varied. It is protected under Spanish historic-building law.

As it stood in 1878
The shape it held in its prime.
A compact, fairy-tale composition of pale buff and darker repaired masonry: a high central keep formed of multiple cylindrical turrets grouped into a tall crenellated mass, lower semicircular bastions and curtain walls with stout machicolations and crenelations, and a central gatehouse with a pointed arched doorway and a triple-light window above. Roofs on minor towers are conical and slate; the castle sits within a planted park of lawns, palms and tall conifers with the facade approached across grass.
