Cardigan Castle
Cardigan Castle is a medieval castle on a promontory above the River Teifi in Cardigan, Ceredigion, Wales. The standing stone curtain walls date mainly from the rebuilding of 1244; a domestic house (Castle Green House) was built inside the walls in the early 1800s. The site is a Grade I listed building and was restored and opened to the public in the 21st century.

The shape it held in its prime.
Set on a raised riverside promontory at a bend in the River Teifi, the castle is defined by a continuous thick stone curtain wall of roughly polygonal plan rising directly above the quay and road. A pronounced rounded projecting stone bastion occupies the downstream corner. Inside the enclosure is an open inner ward later occupied by Castle Green House (early 19th century) and planted gardens; the town and its narrow streets press up against the landward side of the walls.
