A vast red-brown brick cathedral with two massive west towers capped by very tall, slender spires and topped with small weather vanes. The towers show round white decorative panels near their summits and tall narrow lancet windows. Multiple copper-clad roof volumes (now green with patina) cover the nave, transept and chapels. The building stands on a wide cobbled forecourt; buttressed brick walls and a cluster of attached chapels run along the aisles.
