What Tivoli Gardens looked like in its prime.
A symmetrical entrance composition of warm red-brown brick pavilions flanking a central tiled domed arch crowned by a Danish flag and gilded 'TIVOLI' lettering. Low cornices strung with rows of small electric bulbs, arched windows, terracotta ornament and iron railings face a broad paved forecourt with a circular fountain; mature trees and dense pleasure-garden planting sit immediately behind the gateway. Scale is human, façades two storeys, roofs slate or tile, detailing in glazed tiles, terracotta and painted wood.
