What Pont Alexandre III looked like in its prime.
Low, wide single steel arch spanning the Seine with a 45 m flat deck and a 107 m principal span; the tablier is painted a pale grey-pearl and edged with rows of bronze Beaux‑Arts lamp standards and garlanded masks. At each end stand massive light-coloured masonry pylons (≈17 m) surmounted by gilt‑bronze allegorical groups of winged horses and Fames. Hammered copper nymph reliefs occupy the centres of the arches; stone quays and moored barges line the riverbanks.
