A compact, multi-roofed complex dominated by a central domed octagon clad in pale quarry stone, flanked eastward by a tall Gothic choir whose wall surface is almost entirely traceried stained glass framed by slender stone supports. A steep polygonal spire and square tower rise to the side, while slate and lead roofs form a jagged skyline. Exterior masonry ranges from smooth Carolingian ashlar to later weathered Gothic stone; small projecting chapels and an arcaded two-story gallery encircle the octagon.
