Széchenyi thermal bath

Széchenyi gyógyfürdő

The Széchenyi Medicinal Bath is a large early 20th-century thermal bath complex in Budapest's City Park, built in Neo-Baroque / neorennaissance forms and expanded to its present footprint in 1927. It contains multiple outdoor and indoor thermal pools, saunas and treatment rooms supplied by deep thermal springs.

What Széchenyi thermal bath looked like in its prime.

A long two-storey yellow-painted spa palace with an arcade of round-arched openings on the ground floor and an upper loggia of paired classical columns and balustraded terraces; white stone balustrades, urns and sculptural groups punctuate rooflines and terraces. Broad outdoor thermal pools with turquoise water fill the forecourt, edged by fountains, stone benches and planters; a central domed cupola crowns the main axis, its mosaic-decorated interior visible beyond the entrance.
