The Museo Nacional del Prado is Spain's national art museum in central Madrid, housing a major collection of European painting and sculpture from the 12th century to the early 20th century. The museum occupies a late-18th-century Neoclassical building by Juan de Villanueva and has been enlarged and modernised with 20th- and 21st-century extensions and a glass-roofed foyer.
