Puente Nuevo

The Puente Nuevo is an 18th-century stone bridge that spans the El Tajo gorge at Ronda, southern Spain, connecting the older and newer parts of the town. Its composition centers on a dominant central arch with ancillary arches and a small square guard-house-like chamber set over the main span. The bridge forms a dramatic vertical link between the town streets and the gorge below.

A squat square chamber sits above the central arch, with small rectangular openings; a low stone parapet lines the roadway on top. The structure visually blends with the cliff face in colour and texture, casting deep shadows into the narrow, vegetated gorge beneath. Overall silhouette: vertical, monumental, and integrated with the rock.
