What Ullevi looked like in its prime.

A vast oval concrete bowl with broad, radiating concrete frames and exposed support ribs; the main stand roof is hung by steel cables from two hollow, 53 m concrete pylons. Continuous tiers of seating surround an athletics track and grass pitch, with floodlight masts and tall lighting towers at the corners. Exterior façades show massive V-shaped buttresses and open concourse levels; luxury-box band with a low roof band runs around the upper tier. Colourful seating patterns fill the stands in prime use.
