Lëkurësi Fortress
Lëkurësi Castle is an Ottoman-era hilltop fortress overlooking the town of Sarandë in southern Albania. Constructed in 1537, it was positioned to control Sarandë, nearby Butrint and the islands of Ksamil. The site today survives as a ruin on a strategic promontory southeast of the town centre.

As it stood in 1537
The shape it held in its prime.
Perched on a strategic hill southeast of Sarandë, the fortress has an almost-square plan with continuous stone curtain walls and two prominent round towers at opposite corners; the towers are pierced by narrow loopholes. The southern and eastern sides are described as the best preserved. From the ramparts the castle commands views over the town and the nearby islands of Ksamil. In its prime the walls and towers would have been whole and defensible.
