Heighley Castle
Heighley Castle (or Heleigh Castle) is a medieval castle near Madeley, Staffordshire, completed by the Audley family in 1233. It was held for Charles I and largely destroyed by Parliamentary forces in the 1640s; today only overgrown masonry fragments remain and the site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Heighley Castle — Heleigh in older spellings — was built by Henry de Aldithley, later 'de Audley', Sheriff of Shropshire from 1227 to 1232, and completed by the Audley family in 1233. For over 300 years it stood as one of the family's ancestral homes, near Madeley in Staffordshire.
The castle was held for Charles I during the English Civil War and destroyed by Parliamentary forces in the 1640s. What remains — masonry fragments, mostly overgrown by vegetation — is protected by Grade II listed status and as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, though the site is privately owned, closed to visitors, and sits on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register in 'very bad' condition.
