A tall, rectangular four-storey tower house of coursed grey limestone rubble with dressed corner quoins; walls punctuated by narrow vertical slit windows and a few larger mullioned openings. The flat parapet is set on corbelled stones with a simple roof behind and a metal weather vane on a short mast above. A cylindrical projecting garderobe or chimney rises from an upper corner. The tower stands amid estate trees and low boundary walls, the stone showing patch repairs and worn mortar.

Clonbrock Castle is a 15th-century rectangular tower house near Ahascragh in County Galway. The estate, including the tower house, was originally owned by the O'Kelly (Ó Ceallaigh) family until the late 16th century, when it was acquired by the Dillons.
Robert Dillon, head of the family, was elevated to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Clonbrock by George III in 1790. By 1824 Luke Dillon, 2nd Baron Clonbrock, was listed among County Galway's resident proprietors, and at the time of Griffith's Valuation (1848–64) Lord Clonbrock was one of the principal lessors across parishes in the baronies of Kilconnell and Longford. In 1906 the family still held over 2,000 acres of untenanted land and the mansion house at Clonbrock.
The Dillons sold in the 1970s, and the house was severely damaged by fire in 1986. The medieval stone tower house still stands on its former estate.
