Castle Salem (originally Benduff Castle) is a late-medieval fortified house and square keep near Rosscarbery in County Cork, Ireland. Built around the late 15th century, it retains a massive central tower with thick stone walls and later attached domestic ranges and was used as a residence into the modern era.

A massive square stone keep rising approximately 70 feet in its prime, built of grey-brown local rubble with very thick (about 11 ft) walls. The keep displays narrow vertical arrow‑slits and loopholes set into plain masonry, with lower attached side ranges and bastions forming an enclosed foundation. The silhouette is a simple rectangular tower with a crenellated parapet and wall-walk, set in a secluded valley surrounded by plantations of trees and enclosed by an outer curtain wall and service courts.

Castle Salem began as Benduff Castle, a fortified house near Rosscarbery in County Cork built around 1470 — almost certainly by Catherine Fitzgerald, daughter of Thomas, 7th Earl of Desmond, on her marriage to Finghin MacCarthy Reagh. Charles Smith, who called it "a strong romantic building", credited the O'Donovans with its construction instead.
Catherine is probably the figure who has come down as "The Black Lady", of whom various legends were told in connection with Benduff. After the Cromwellian confiscations the land was formally granted under the Act of Settlement in 1678 to William Morris, and the Morris family made the house their home from around 1660 until the early 1800s.
The massive central tower with its thick stone walls survives from the late-medieval house, with later domestic ranges attached, and the building remained a residence into the modern era. In 1895 it was bought by the Daly family, whose descendants run Castle Salem as a guest house today.
