The shape it held in its prime.
A massive square-plan stone keep with a crenellated parapet and visible machicolations sits on exposed rock above terraced lawns and a narrow stream. A cylindrical stair-turret with arched openings projects from one face of the keep; low curtain walls and a ruined round tower stand on the lower slopes. The masonry is grey limestone; narrow vertical slit windows punctuate the tall walls. Paths, stepped terraces and mature trees surround the fortified core.
