Finsbury Park

Finsbury Park is a public Victorian-era park in north London, opened in 1869 and laid out with lawns, formal planting and an ornamental lake. It occupies a knoll formerly known as Hornsey Wood and contains avenues of mature trees, open recreation space and areas set aside as an arboretum.

Broad, gently rolling Victorian public park set on a knoll: wide green lawns and scattered clumps of mature trees, straight tree-lined avenues and formal planted beds around an enlarged ornamental lake at the hilltop. Gravel promenades and informal paths radiate across the grass; the palette is green turf, dark tree trunks and the reflective blue of the lake, with small rowboats on the water and promenaders in period dress at the water's edge.
