Goodwood House

Goodwood House is a Grade I listed English country house in Westhampnett, West Sussex, long the seat of the Dukes of Richmond. The present building is an 18th-century house built around a Jacobean core (1617) with north and south wings and associated service buildings on a large landscaped estate that includes a racecourse and parkland.

A broad, symmetrical three-part country house with a central classical columned portico and low-pitched roofs, flanked by cylindrical angle towers capped by shallow green domes. The pale, textured façade is partly clothed with climbing ivy; evenly spaced tall sash windows puncture the walls. In front lies a sweeping manicured lawn and curved gravel approach, mature trees framing the composition and service wings extending sideways toward the park.
