Tate Britain

Tate Britain is an art museum on Millbank in the City of Westminster, London, housing the national collection of British art from the 1500s to the present. The building complex includes a classical stone portico, a domed rotunda and several dedicated gallery wings including the Clore Gallery for Turner works and the central sculpture gallery.

A pale ashlar stone façade with a broad flight of steps up to a classical portico of tall Corinthian columns supporting a triangular pediment with sculptural figures; a balustraded terrace and stone plinths with bronze sculpture sit to one side. Arched windows and ornate entablature punctuate the front; banners and poster boards mark temporary exhibitions. Behind the portico a low dome/rotunda and later gallery wings rise in matching stone, with carved detailing and stone stair balustrades to street level.
