Westminster Abbey
Westminster Abbey (the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter at Westminster) is a large medieval church in the City of Westminster, London, long used for English and British coronations, royal burials and major state ceremonies. The present Gothic church was begun under Henry III in 1245 and was completed in phases through the late medieval period; the east end includes the Perpendicular Henry VII Chapel.

Stone-built Gothic church in pale ashlar with a long nave and high clerestory, a deep choir and a richly vaulted east end (the Henry VII Chapel) in Perpendicular Gothic. The west front features a large pointed-arch west window with intricate stone tracery above decorated grouped portals; numerous narrow lancet and arched windows, carved niches with statuary, buttresses and pinnacles define the vertical silhouette. The interior floors included patterned Cosmati stonework before the high altar; much carving and traceried glass enliven surfaces.
