White City Stadium
White City Stadium was a large multi-purpose stadium in London, built for the 1908 Summer Olympics and later adapted for greyhound racing, athletics, speedway and major public events. It was an oval bowl with continuous spectator terraces and roofed grandstands, and an infield that once contained a 100-metre swimming pool. The stadium was demolished in 1985 and the site is now redeveloped.

What White City Stadium looked like in its prime.
An expansive oval bowl of spectator terraces and long roofed grandstands flanking both straights, enclosing a wide grass infield that contained a long swimming/diving pool; a narrow inner fence separates the turf from a running track with an outer 35-foot cycle track beyond. Crowded stepped terraces curve tightly around the turns, and a raised royal box and primary entrance face the finish line. The overall silhouette is low and continuous, pierced by covered seating canopies.
