Chaillot Palace

Palais de Chaillot

The Palais de Chaillot is a twin‑winged monumental building on Chaillot Hill in Paris, built for the 1937 Exposition and occupying the Trocadéro site. Its two curved wings frame a broad esplanade that opens toward the Eiffel Tower and house museums, the Théâtre national de Chaillot and the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine.

What Chaillot Palace looked like in its prime.

A wide, symmetrical, twin‑winged palace in pale cream stone and stone cladding, with two taller central pavilions facing a raised rectangular esplanade. The central block is articulated by tall paired pilasters/columns and a flat parapeted roof; the long curving wings show regular vertical windows and low colonnades at ground level. Attic‑level sculptural groups and bas‑reliefs run along the cornices. Broad stone terraces and sweeping stair flights descend from the esplanade into terraced gardens and cascaded rectangular pools and fountains.
