Long red-brick main block with regular tall mullioned windows set in stone surrounds, a steep dark slate roof punctuated by stepped gables and tall chimneys, and a low service wing linking to a cylindrical tower with a rounded cap and small lantern. The façade sits directly above a stone balustraded terrace at the edge of a rectangular pond; grounds are park-like with lawns and mature trees. At its prime the ensemble is complete and intact.

Karreveld Castle is a red-brick castle-farm in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Brussels, set in a park with ponds and formal gardens. The name — originally spelled Carrevelt — was first recorded in 1253, in a deed of donation by John I, Duke of Brabant, to his wife Margaret, daughter of King Louis IX of France.
In 1780 the estate was acquired by the House de Villegas, an influential Belgian noble family of Spanish origin who also owned Rivieren Castle in the nearby municipality of Ganshoren; the family retained ownership for nearly two and a half centuries.
The present building presents a long, rectangular main block with tall mullioned windows, a lower service wing and a round tower at one end. Castle and park are now used for cultural events and for meetings of the municipal council.
