The shape it held in its prime.

Perched on a wooded rocky promontory, the castle presents a compact cluster of stone ranges behind a crenellated curtain wall and defensive towers, all topped with orange‑red clay tile roofs. A tall, white cylindrical donjon with a steep conical red tile roof dominates one corner; a shorter square stone tower and a long multi‑storey residential range with regular rectangular windows form the core. A chapel with tall pointed Gothic windows opens onto the inner ward; battlements and a small gate tower face the approach.
