Petřín Lookout Tower

The Petřín Lookout Tower is a 63.5-metre steel-framework observation tower on Petřín Hill in Prague, completed for the 1891 Jubilee Exhibition. Designed with an octagonal lattice shaft and two observation platforms, it served visitors as a vantage point over the city. The structure originally contained a small lift and internal staircases, and was crowned by a glazed lantern and a decorative crown with a flagstaff.

A 63.5 m tall, octagonal riveted steel-lattice tower that tapers upward in criss-cross diagonal bracing. The iron framework is painted grey-blue; the legs are bridged by an enclosed entrance hall. Two observation platforms interrupt the shaft: a lower open octagonal gallery with iron balustrade and an upper glazed octagonal lantern beneath a low copper-coloured domed roof. The original wooden stair flights run inside the lattice, and a slender crowned flagpole/lightning rod rises from the lantern.
