A compact U-shaped red-brown brick manor set on a rectangular island completely surrounded by a broad water-filled moat. Two storeys plus attic with steep plain-tile roofs, prominent gabled end walls and multiple tall brick chimneys and dormer gables. The main range and projecting wings frame a gravel forecourt with small clipped parterres; a short low brick bridge and gate piers cross the moat. A walled, formal garden occupies the inner island beside the house, all within mature trees and parkland.

Morley Old Hall is a moated manor house in Morley Saint Peter, Norfolk, some twelve miles from Norwich, created around 1600 by John Sedley. Built of brick to a U-shaped plan, it rises two storeys with two further storeys of attics under plain-tiled roofs, and the moat still completely surrounds it. It is listed at Grade I.
Its later owners give the house an unexpected 20th-century cast: Field Marshal Sir Edmund Ironside, Commander-in-Chief of Home Forces during the Second World War, and in the 1970s Janet Shand Kydd, first wife of Peter Shand Kydd, stepfather of Diana, Princess of Wales.
