Ashtown Castle
Ashtown Castle is a 15th‑century Irish tower house located in Phoenix Park, Dublin. It was later encapsulated within an 18th‑century Georgian lodge, rediscovered during demolition in 1978, and has been restored and incorporated into the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre.

The shape it held in its prime.
A compact 15th‑century Irish tower house rising as a vertical stone block in parkland, built to the narrow rectangular dimensions typical of government grants of the 1430s. The exterior is plain stone with small, narrow window openings and a simple roofline; the tower stands alone within the open grass of Phoenix Park (later enveloped by an 18th‑century lodge). At its prime the tower house appears complete and habitable.
