A light‑coloured sandstone castellated house with crenellated parapets and a taller central tower topped by a slender flagpole, set on a wooded ridge above a slope; the main block has rectilinear massing with battlemented roofline and stone detailing on parapets. Nearby within the grounds sit the low-ruin remains of an older rectangular block by a stream, including a surviving round tower and a courtyard wall with a small doorway and an added parapet turret.

Knock Castle is a castellated Tudor-revival country house set high on a wooded slope on the outskirts of Largs, on Scotland's west coast. It was built in 1851 by a member of the shipbuilding Steele family, with a further wing added in the early twentieth century; within its grounds stands the far older, restored seventeenth-century Knock Old Castle, a rectangular block with round towers.
Around 1870 the house was sold to George Elder FRSE, a Scottish businessman with strong links to Adelaide, who owned the castle through the later 19th century and died here in 1897. It then passed to Robert Hunter Craig, who died at the house in 1913. Both buildings are listed for their architectural interest, and the estate remains a private residence.
