Ljubljana Castle
Ljubljana Castle is a hilltop castle complex above the centre of Ljubljana, Slovenia, formed from a medieval fortress and rebuilt across the 15th–17th centuries. The ensemble of curtain walls, multiple towers and a central clock/viewing tower now houses cultural venues and exhibitions and is a prominent city landmark. The castle sits atop Castle Hill with broad views over the old town below.

The shape it held in its prime.
A compact hilltop stronghold of mixed light-grey stone and patched brick, arranged around a paved inner courtyard. A tall white clock/viewing tower with large circular clock faces and crenellated summit rises near the centre; several polygonal and round towers with steep brown roofs puncture the curtain walls. Thick defensive curtain walls follow the hill crest and open onto a wide terrace; the complex overlooks the dense red-tiled roofs of the city below.
