Westminster Bridge

Westminster Bridge is a seven-arch cast-iron road-and-foot-traffic bridge across the River Thames in central London, linking the Palace of Westminster on the west bank with the south bank. The bridge carries a wide carriageway with pedestrian promenades and is finished with Gothic-style cast-iron detailing and regularly spaced decorative lamp standards.

Gothic cast-iron balustrades with shield motifs run along both sides, punctuated by tall decorative lamp standards. The deck is broad enough for carriages and wide pedestrian promenades. From the west the vertical silhouette of the Palace of Westminster and its clock tower forms a skyline anchor beside the bridge; stone piers bear tidal staining at river level.
