Montparnasse Cemetery is a 19-hectare public cemetery in Paris's 14th arrondissement, opened in 1824 and containing tens of thousands of graves. It contains many named divisions, a central roundabout, funerary monuments and a surviving windmill, and is the resting place of numerous writers, artists and public figures.
