The shape it held in its prime.

A compact castellated house of pale ashlar stone set on a wooded valley slope above a river, dominated by a cylindrical central keep with a crenellated parapet and an adjacent taller square tower with pinnacles. The building has several vertically aligned window openings in the towers, low stone garden walls and planted lawns at the base, and is largely enclosed by mature deciduous trees; rooflines are parapeted rather than pitched.
