The Vienna State Opera is a Neo‑Renaissance opera house on the Ringstraße in Vienna, built 1861–1869 and inaugurated on 25 May 1869. It houses an opera company, orchestra and ballet and contains multiple public interior spaces including grand stairways, a frescoed foyer, vestibule, tea room and a large auditorium.

Symmetrical Neo‑Renaissance stone façade in light beige sandstone with a rusticated ground level, a five‑arch entrance arcade, five tall round‑arched windows on the piano nobile separated by paired columns, a balustraded terrace, and two large bronze rooftop statues on pedestals with a green copper dome visible behind. Flanking wings mirror the central block; carved friezes and medallions run beneath the cornice. The scale is urban and monumental, set directly on the Ringstraße.
