Vyšehrad

Perched on a tree‑covered cliff above the Vltava, Vyšehrad presents a layered silhouette of brick Baroque ramparts and bastions beneath the soaring twin spires and pointed-arch stone façade of the neo‑Gothic Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Terraced lawns, rows of sculpted tombs, a small round Romanesque rotunda of St. Martin, plastered gatehouses and weathered masonry of ruined tower fragments make a compact, vertical site of mixed stone, brick and plaster set against the river embankment.
