Wenceslas Square

Wenceslas Square is the long, rectangular boulevard and principal commercial and civic square in Prague's New Town, running 750 m from Můstek up to the National Museum. The square is lined by late-19th and early-20th-century shopfronts, hotels and office buildings and is dominated at its upper (southeast) end by the neoclassical National Museum and the equestrian statue of Saint Wenceslas.

A broad, gently sloping 750 m boulevard paved and lined by continuous rows of six- to eight-storey late‑19th/early‑20th‑century façades in eclectic, Secessionist and neoclassical styles. A central linear reserve contains tram tracks and formal planting; the plaza space around the tall stone plinth of the equestrian Saint Wenceslas statue is framed by low clipped parterres. At the uphill (southeast) terminus stands the stone-faced, columned neoclassical National Museum with a broad flight of steps and a shallow dome visible above the roofline.
