Imperial War Museum Duxford

Imperial War Museum Duxford is a major branch of the Imperial War Museum located on the former RAF Duxford airfield in Cambridgeshire, England. It is Britain’s largest aviation museum, housing nearly 200 aircraft along with military vehicles, artillery and related collections across original hangars and purpose-built exhibition buildings.

A vast, high-clearance aircraft hall formed from steel trusses and clerestory glazing, filled with suspended and floor-mounted aircraft in polished metal and wartime camouflage, large RAF roundels, concrete floors and low stanchions. Mezzanine viewing galleries run along one side; visitors cluster below. Nearby are other large sheds and a curved glass-and-steel exhibition building. Colours are silver, grey, khaki camouflage and the red-white-blue of roundels, under bright industrial lighting.
