King's College Chapel

King's College Chapel is the late-medieval chapel of King's College, University of Cambridge, notable for its Perpendicular Gothic design and extensive medieval stained glass. Built in phases from the mid-15th to early-16th centuries, the structure contains the world's largest fan vault and an early Renaissance wooden pulpitum. The chapel remains an active place of worship and a symbol of the city of Cambridge.

What King's College Chapel looked like in its prime.

A long, lofty Perpendicular Gothic chapel of pale limestone ashlar: a colossal west façade dominated by a single tall, pointed arched window with vertical tracery, flanked by two octagonal towers topped with ornate pinnacles and a battlemented parapet with pierced cresting. The interior is a vast, uninterrupted space under an expansive stone fan vault, pierced on each side by tall traceried windows filled with richly coloured Flemish glass; a Renaissance wooden screen (pulpitum) stands between choir and ante-chapel.
