John O'Gaunt's Castle
John O'Gaunt's Castle is a 14th-century royal hunting lodge site on a spur at Haverah Park near Harrogate in North Yorkshire. Only earthworks and buried footings survive; in its prime it comprised a curtain wall, gatehouse with bridge over a ditch, a central square tower and a small chapel. It was associated with Edward III and later John of Gaunt.

Perched on the end of a spur at Haverah Park, the lodge in its prime was a compact stone stronghold: a surrounding curtain wall with a defended gatehouse reached by a bridge over a roughly 2-metre ditch or moat, enclosing a 35 by 30 metre ditched platform. At the centre stood a substantial square tower about 15 metres across with a lead roof; one surviving range wall and a small attached chapel opened off the inner bailey. The overall silhouette is low and compact.
