Kronberg Castle
Kronberg Castle is a High Middle Ages rock castle in Kronberg im Taunus, Hesse, Germany, built between 1220 and 1230 and sited above the historic town. The castle complex is dominated by a tall stone bergfried and a large residential palas with a steep slate roof and stepped gable, set on a wooded hill beside the Taunus heights (Altkönig).

Dominant tall rectangular stone bergfried with small slit windows and a corbelled machicolation band under its steep pyramidal slate roof; beside it a large plastered stone palas with a pronounced stepped gable, multiple rows of small rectangular windows and a dark slate roof punctured by dormers and a small onion-topped turret. A low curtain wall and terrace with arched openings runs along the hill above the town, and a round half-timbered tower with a domed slate roof adjoins the wall; the site sits on a wooded hill above clustered red‑tiled houses.
