The shape it held in its prime.
Three-storey Victorian ashlar stone mansion with multiple round corner turrets capped by conical slate roofs and decorative finials, steep slate rooflines with stepped (crow-stepped) gables, a tall rectangular tower at one corner, and tall sash windows set in dressed stone surrounds painted a distinctive red. A curved external double stone staircase and balustraded terrace lead to the main entrance; the house sits above formal clipped-hedge gardens on the slopes of Cave Hill, fully complete and roofed at its prime.
