Dalkey Castle
Dalkey Castle is a medieval three-storey Norman tower house on Castle Street in Dalkey, County Dublin, built as a fortified merchants' warehouse around 1390. It later served civic uses and was restored in the 1990s and now forms part of the Dalkey Heritage Centre.

A three-storey rectangular Norman stone tower of coursed rubble masonry facing Castle Street, fenestrated by narrow lancet windows and a few slit apertures; the ground floor is entered through a rounded arched doorway. The roofline is castellated with crenellated parapets and machicolations on all sides; short projecting corner elements punctuate the parapet. Stone colour is local grey-brown, the masonry roughly dressed and tightly coursed, and the tower stands complete with its battlements and walkable parapet.

Dalkey Castle is a medieval three-storey Norman tower house on Castle Street in Dalkey, County Dublin, built around 1390 as a fortified merchants' warehouse. The Chevers family acquired it in the 17th century, and it was their name — chèvre being French for goat — that earned it the label Goat Castle.
It subsequently passed to the Allen family, then to Sir William Mayne in the mid-18th century. The new town commissioners acquired the castle and used its first floor as a council chamber from 1869; it ceased to be the local seat of government in 1930, when Dalkey became part of the borough of Dún Laoghaire. Restored in the 1990s, it now houses the Dalkey Heritage Centre, with Dalkey Town Hall in a single-storey extension behind.
