Palazzo Venezia
Palazzo Venezia is a large early-Renaissance palace in central Rome facing Piazza Venezia. Built and extended in the 15th century around the Basilica of Saint Mark, it later housed diplomatic missions and, in the 20th century, state offices; today it contains the National Museum of Palazzo Venezia. The complex includes a tall square tower, enclosed gardens, and a long battlemented eastern façade with a central portal and balcony.

A taller square tower rises at the south-west corner. The central stone portal beneath a projecting balcony punctuates the east façade facing a boat-shaped lawned piazza; rows of evenly spaced rectangular windows on the piano nobile and smaller attic windows give a rigid horizontal order.
