What Bolshoi Theatre looked like in its prime.

A monumental pale-cream neoclassical stone and stucco block with a deep portico of tall Corinthian columns on a raised stylobate, a wide flight of steps and three central doorways. Two stacked triangular pediments carry carved reliefs; the upper pediment bears an imperial double-headed eagle and the lower supports a bronze quadriga of Apollo. Rusticated ground floor, rows of tall arched windows above, dentilled cornices and sculpted friezes; the building fronts a broad rectangular theatre square.
