Coupland Castle
Coupland Castle is a Grade I listed late 16th-century tower house near Wooler in Northumberland. The core is a three-storey rubble stone tower with an attic and a small projecting tower on the south wall, with later domestic additions including a two-storey three-bay house added around 1820; it has been altered and restored over the centuries and remained a private residence.

A rectangular three-storey tower house of mixed rubble stone with an attic level and a small projecting tower carried up the south wall; the tower has narrow slit windows and a slate roof. Between the two tower elements the entrance bears the inscribed date '1594' on the doorjamb. A three-bay, two-storey domestic range adjoins the tower to the southwest. A long rubble garden wall runs along the approach; the site is set among lawns, clipped hedges and mature trees with low Northumberland hills beyond.

Coupland Castle is a tower house in the village of Coupland, four miles north-west of Wooler in Northumberland — a Grade I listed building whose core, built after 1584, is a three-storey rubble stone tower with an attic and a small projecting tower on the south wall, joined by irregular later additions.
The estate passed through a string of Northumbrian families. The Wallis family sold it in 1713 to Sir Chaloner Ogle, a successful naval officer; the Bates family owned it in the 18th century; and by 1820 it was the residence of Matthew Culley, High Sheriff of Northumberland that year, whose family added a two-storey, three-bay house around the same date.
The Culleys sold the estate in 1928. Altered and restored over the centuries, the castle has remained a private residence — Robin Jell bought the property in 1979 and lived there with his second wife Fiona.
