Henderskelfe Castle
Henderskelfe Castle was a medieval stone castle on the site now occupied by Castle Howard in North Yorkshire. Built in the 14th century, recorded as a quadrangular castle with four towers by the mid-16th century, it was rebuilt in 1683 but burned and finally demolished by the early 18th century.

Henderskelfe Castle stood on what is now the site of Castle Howard in North Yorkshire. The estate belonged to the Greystoke family in the early 14th century, and they built the castle around that time; by the mid-16th century it was recorded as a quadrangular castle with four towers.
In 1577 Lord William Howard, third son of the 4th Duke of Norfolk, married his step-sister Elizabeth Dacre, youngest daughter of the 4th Baron Dacre. The castle was rebuilt in 1683 but burned, and was finally demolished by the early 18th century; the great stately home of Castle Howard now occupies the site.
